My experience reading Letters written during a short residence in Sweden, Norwary and Denmark was quite interesting. The very beginning of this book really grabbed my attention. The first sentence started off as “Mary Wollstonecraft was born on the 27th of April, 1759. Her father—a quick-tempered and unsettled man, capable of beating wife, or child, or dog—was the son of a manufacturer who made money in Spitalfields, when Spitalfields was prosperous.” This first sentence got me engaged into wanting to read more and already gave me a bad impression of her father but made it sound scary and interesting. The way she describes her journey is also very interesting and descriptive. Letter V she states “As we had not taken this excursion into our plan, the horses had not been previously ordered, which obliged us to wait two hours at the first post. The day was wearing away. The road was so bad that walking up the precipices consumed the time insensibly; but as we desired horses at each post ready at a certain hour, we reckoned on returning more speedily.” There are many quotes that explains her journey and you feel bad for her because of the trouble and how NOT easy her life is. Though I can not relate to some sentences like this one, she gives you a description that you can imagine vividly and thats what I like.
