Wenting Wang is my partner in English 151W class. After we had a little chat in class about her life story, I was astonished. She transferred from Queensborough Community College to Queens College this semester (Spring 2018). Wang is a sophomore and majoring in Childhood education. In future, she would like to be a kindergarten teacher. Wang is originally from China and has traveled alone to The United States for her Bachelor’s degree. It’s been two years she has come to America and maintaining a life alone as a student. Her parents are funding her college tuition and living expenses from China and it is a lot of expense for her family. Wang hasn’t decided as of now about where she wants to teach after her Bachelors. She has a cat named Simba whom she loves dearly. Wang also loves cooking and reading but doesn’t like writing as much. Best of luck to Wang!

My new friend Ivan is a computer science major in his Junior year with a goal to work in Information Technology in the future. While Ivan does not often read, he enjoys playing his Monster Hunter World on his PS4 in his free time. Ivan lives in Fresh Meadows and enjoys spending time with his cousins when he is free.

During class today, I was able to get to know Aleyah! She is currently a junior at QC studying poly-science and psychology, with a long term goal of becoming a lawyer. She commutes to QC from her house in Queens Village. But, she is not originally from the United States. When she was nine years old, her parents decided to move here from Guyana in hopes for a better life. She also has one younger brother, who is 21 years old. Her birthday is October 23rd, which makes her a Scorpio. We shared a similar love for food, although her favorite would be pasta or anything cheesy. Her favorite restaurants are Applebee’s and Red Lobster. Although she doesn’t have much free time between school and work, she does enjoy reading, watching movies or TV and listening to music. Both her favorite book and movie genres are mystery, thriller and action. Her favorite TV shows are Grey’s Anatomy or any other doctor show. She enjoys listening to reggae, hip hop and soca music. Her favorite colors are purple and light green. She is very scared of bugs and heights. She also believes that her strongest personal quality is her ability to care and help others. She has an overall optimistic view on the world and wants to make it a better place. Overall, Aleyah is so great and I’m looking forward to getting to know her better this semester!

Ziyi is a twenty-five year old business administration student at queens college. She is from Flushing Queens. Her free time consists of shopping, swimming and studying ! She loves to eat any type of noodle and her favorite color is red.

She is a student at queens college. She is majoring in Fashion and textile. She is a senior. She also have an internship at textile. Her hobbies are that she likes to draw and read different books.

Jahed transfered to queens college from hunter. He is majoring in computer science here in queens college. He is in his junior year. His hobbies are playing sports, reading, and listening to music.

Mounia is a 33 year old transfer student from LaGuardia Community College trying to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in design.  She lives relatively close by in East Flatbush, but since she takes three trains and a bus, her commute is nearly two hours long.  When she’s not at school, she enjoys playing video games on Steam or watching people play them on Twitch.  Her favorite movie is The Matrix and her favorite books include fiction and fantasy selections such as The Lord of The Rings trilogy.  She will listen to any style of music except for screamo.  Mounia is bilingual in French and English and is learning to speak Korean.  She likes to eat Indian and Asian food and when she is finished with school, she would like to travel to Japan.
